Put the Right Thing in the Right Place
22 September 2020
Today, as part of the “Put the Right Thing in the Right Place” project, the second out of five events planned was held at three locations in the city – Ban Josip Jelačić Square, Ribnjak Park and King Tomislav Square. This involved numerous educational and informational activities organised by the City of Zagreb in order to raise the awareness of the general public regarding sustainable waste management.“Such events, held at the most beautiful locations in the city, such as squares and parks, represent a way of disseminating information through direct contact, while observing COVID-19 prevention measures.
European Car-Free Day, which is celebrated today, was purposefully selected as the date of this activity. We always hold our events on dates which show the wider picture when it comes to ecological considerations of our Zagreb, Croatia and the entire planet. I would like to invite our citizens to join in these activities for a more beautiful, more competitive and greener Zagreb,” said Deputy Mayor Asst. Prof. Olivera Majić, PhD, who presented the event.
Activities planned as part of this project are aimed at informing and educating citizens about the methods and importance of separate waste collection, composting at home and reusing materials in order to become more engaged and involved themselves.
Citizens had the opportunity to enjoy musical performances, various games, wheel of fortune, bubble football and archery. People were handed out waste sorting bags and there were education sessions about environmental protection. One could also try their luck in a prize-winning game about waste sorting.
The youngest attendees could enjoy a corner specially dedicated to them, where they had colouring books and games – Ekodrom and Ekoforija – designed to teach players about environmental protection.
Let us remind you that the first event was held on 7 September, on the Croatian Waters Day, while the future events will be held on the International Day of Clean Mountains, World Maritime Day and World Animal Day.
